So one evening I was sitting at the pool side with a couple of girl friends I'd met after a long long time.
Amidst all the updates on each of us the conversation drifted towards .. yes that's right .. guys!
It all started with who was seeing who and where and how they'd met them and why in the world did they then break up?!
Anyway, my pal was thinking of various sorta-unconventional professions each of us would like our men(yes men .. NOT boys :P) to be in.
AND for some reason all IIT, IIM, MIT, Stanford, HBS (and the likes of these) grads were strictly ruled out.
So we came up with a small list of our own:
1. A struggling artist (they make a cute sight!)
2. An author (no comments)
3. A Clock/WatchMaker (I'm sure you won't mind if his business house happens to be a Tag Heuer or a Fossil ;))
4. A fashion designer (no more wardrobe problems although one can't guarantee no wardrobe malfunctions!)
5. An exotic chef/chef-cooking-exotic dishes in exotic places (:D yummy in the tummy!)
6. Dope peddlar (stoned already, eh?)
7. A bartender (shake, stir, shot, swirl?)
8. A masseur (aaahhhhh, oooohhhh, awesome!!)
9. Kiss-and-tell prof.(who has also authored a bestseller named "The Know-how/art of kissing" AND has workshops spread across the globe)
10. A pole dancer/stripper (anyone?)
Well .. that's all we could come up with before the conversation drifted away into yet another direction.
My personal favourite is a combination of two of the above:
Got anymore?

hmm... interesting..
i want 5!!! :D
u want 5!! bloody tu fatt jayegi .. aur kal mujhe bolti hai ki main fatt jaoongi!! :P
btw .. the chicken was awesome! :D
Well scores of ppl on the list that you scratched out would feature in your coveted list. Too bad !
golu is very correct. :|
:D
well, i wasn't the one ruling out stuff .. and if scores of them have unconventional careers they'd definitely be featured here! :P
arent some of them enough unconventional,say being totally mad? :P
btw, might definitely find IITians etc who are dope peddlers :D
hahha .. okay let me scratch out the scratched out list :P
Everyone with an unconventional career is allowed to feature on the list!
DUDE!!...u forgot a bloody WILD rocker in the list!!
Imagine someone singing coming back to life, rock you like a hurricane, YELLOW, wish you were here...and the likes to you!
@gay3:hmmm .. ok THAT goes on the list too!!
and shud d rocker be belonging to a band called "Bhayanak Maut"?? :P
PS: that's an indian rock band btw.
Bhayanak Maut is an okish band. They are just another ghaati band caught up in the death metal trend.
Plus a wild rocker would probably not play floyd's numbers. Scorpions...maybe yes :D
Sorry!! Just have to comment when it comes to music
@RT
i personally despise BM...i prefer classic rock(if i can call classic rock a genre i.e.)..
if it has to be an indian rock band i wudnt mind 2blue of the vayu fame(tho he luks gay)..he is one HELL of a singer!! or for that matter ne1 from parikrama!!just dat de r a bit tooo old!!
@golu
scorpions ARE wild..atleast i find dem wild... and pink floyd are not wild but der music certainly takes you to a different psychedelic world!!..
@Golu: Don't be sorry!
@posiondoux:i am not too aware of the indian rock scene.
and yes u may call classic rock a genre although its more like a sub-genre of rock!
@ruchi
:O :O
i was talking about if i could call it a genre per se...and i always talk about rock...puff daddy, usher n mika arent quite my types u knw...:P :P
wat i meant was classic is more of an era dan a genre as such.. wat i fail to understand is how can one classify beatles, led zep, floyd and maiden in the same category?!!
i think of hard rock,glam rock progressive, metal as genres..but classic rock?!!
@poison: Yeah, I agree with your recent comment...that's why I said not Floyd but maybe Scorpions. The maybe is to discount songs like "winds of change" :) When I think "wild rocker", I am definitely thinking of some wild stage presence. Given that, I would call even rhcp wild. Floyd is there to be sucked in and enjoyed peacefully with every bend and sustain, rather than running around on a high.
As for Indian frontmen, I have not seen many good ones. Parikrama's vocalist sings well (is cool guy also..spoke to him during livewire)...but they haven't brought out original stuff. So if you are going for creativity...Zero is the way to go !! Or maybe even Thermal and a quarter
@gayatri
you don't understand many things. floyd, beatles, led zepp are alike in the sense that they have a similar style of music which you ob don't understand. :P
@blogger
a lot of iitians are big time dopers, good cooks, authors..as far as being a stripper goes, i am sure iitians can do that job a justice as 9/10 iitians who go to US/EU go to strip clubs without fail. :P
@golu
rhcp suck man! wild stage presence is maiden, metallica, acdc, priest etc.
but floyd are the best man! :)
also, led zepp aren't bad in live.
@Aditya: Sigh! I wonder why ppl begin this IIT tag quarrels. I'm pretty sure that the strip club thing is more of any male indian rather than IITian. Anyhow ... I am here for another argument :D
HOW CAN YOU SAY RHCP SUCK ? I've been to 2 of their concerts and to say that their concerts are filled with energy would only be an understatement. I would agree about maiden,ac/dc and metallica being good on stage. You can pretty much kick the current metallica out of that list...because they really suck shit now. Priest I remember looking very gay...extremely gay...it looked as if they had been choreographed by some cheap pop artist. Their music kicks ass though.
Now I could go on about bands like rage against the machine and pearl jam (OH MAN! they are really really awesome live) ... but I guess that would make for a huge huge discussion about which I could go on and on.
I would probably agree with you if you said RHCP is not in the same class as floyd or maiden because they do not have that lyrical brilliance. For that matter of fact, I think pearl jam is also really up there when it comes to lyrics. RHCP is in fact true to the fact that they are just 4 groove loving musicians who are out there doing what they like the most. I guess they just beat the other mainstream funk artists in their approach to that
@aditya
well ur argument is highly imbecile...
if classic rock was a genre we cud actually have bands producing "classic rock" des days!!
and beatles doesnt sound like floyd one bit.period.
PS:strip club.. LMAO!!
@golu
i havent heard much of zero...just a coupla songs here n der!!and i ADORE pearl jam too... one of the best grunge bands..
@ALL:wtf is goin on people???????
talk of verbal battles!!!!! :O
and NO .. i don't have anything against ANYONE, let alone IITians!!
period!
@ruchi: tch tch tch must not lose one's cool :)
@poison: Zero is quite a good band. I think their psp12 is a good number. Cheesy lyrics but awesome music. I guess I am biased towards the slap bass. I would definitely recommend listening to Thermal and a quarter. Their website (that can be googled) has a download of their entire album titled "Plan B". I think there is really some good stuff in there.
PJ is defly the greatest grunge band out there. I got to watch them live...twice :D Vedder is GODDDD
@aditya: Floyd, Led Zep and Beatles have as much in common as do Megadeth, Maiden and Green day. Now if you consider playing guitars on distortion is a common feature ... that is another story
@golu
yep ill surely dload the music tonite... and yes vedder is one hell of a singer.. oh and he kicks scott stapp ass bigtime(i know out of context..but i HATE it wen de compare vedder to him!)
@aditya
also wen she meant strippers..she meant being a stripper..not visiting one!!
@ruchi
:P :P
Scott is NO WHERE near vedder ... Vedder has definitely more vocal ranges and you can make out that he is true to what he sings...as in with the emotions he puts in. In addition he is also a brilliant song writer.
I think people somehow forget to talk about Layne Staley (from AIC). Now that was a good band and stuff. Their unplugged is supposed to be the best after Nirvana's. Creed had good riffs no doubt, but somehow you didnt think that they were feeling their music.
hmmm AIC is a great band too no doubt..personally love quite a few of der songs..goodbye dont follow being a favorite...but wen it comes to grunge i think PJ kicks nirvana, soundgarden and AIC's combined asses!
@aditya:gayatri is correct .. i meant "being" a stripper .. not visiting one!
@ALL:i have aap sabke gmail ids .. shall i list them here so u can get in touch with each other on gtalk?! :P (esp. gay3 and golu .. u two "G"'s :P :P)
@gayatri: :P :P
@ruch
u cant do dat...its downright unethical to give a celebrity's contact nos/address in a public forum!
and as it is i am missing orkut a bit too much...chatting thru scraps i mean.. :P.. and i know how generous u r..afterall it was bcoz of ur generosity dat 2 IIT(Powai) guys met each other!!
*sniff sniff*
so id continue here!..i mite just meet a fellow st. thomasite u knw.. :P
"for some reason all IIT, IIM, MIT, Stanford, HBS (and the likes of these) grads were strictly ruled out.
"
on what basis does the assumption that IIT , IIM ,MIT ,Stan guys are waiting for you come from? logic anyone?
@aditya: u are missing the point my friend .. this post is focussed on unconventional careers, nuthin else. :|
it was nowhere implied that these guys or any guy for that matter is waitin for anyone, whomsoever it may be .. why in the world are u digressing?? :O really beats me! :O
