It makes you an addict.
It makes you lose your sanity.
It keeps you online for hours together.
It makes you change your display pic @ of 4 pix per 10 seconds.
It tricks you in every possible way there is!! :(
It blinds you completely.
That's Gtalk for you people!
How to know you're a gtalk addict?? (I "discovered" it today .. and I won't call it serendipity : for it wasn't, in the least, pleasant!)
So I was online and a pal had the following status message displayed:
glisten glisten!!
Now for the test. How would you read it??
Normal people will read it as .. yes yes .. glisten - as in shine like a wet or polished surface.
Thank the heavens if THAT'S how you read it.
Gtalk addicts will, however, beg to differ .. they view the above as: glisten glisten :
Yes .... you got that right ..... I was the one who saw the unseeable..... :(
PS: If any of you visiting this page are gtalk addicts .. please say aye .. 'coz I feel ostracized :(

I think am a total gmail chat addict.. but surprisingly, your test failed on me.. i read it as normal glisten word..
fir bhi, from my personal experience, i dont think its such a bad thing to be hooked on to gtalk/any sort of chat, coz personally, i've had some of the most enjoyable times of my life while chatting! :-)
LOL.......................... I remember a similar experience when I had first 'discovered' Yahoo messenger. Guess the interest goes away in time. And you are definitely not alone in this issue. Enjoy. :-)..............
Openions: I remember something that Sri Sri Ravishankar(Art of Living) has told - "Don't be a football of anyone's openions". And your idea is even better - "Go with the heart". :-)......................
Your test says I'm NOT a gtalk addict. And I beg to differ! :)
ohhoo .. this test has been failing, is it?? :O
seemed to work with me! infact that's when i discovered that i really really needed therapy!!(what am i saying .. i STILL need it .. and i mean it this time!not joking .. seriously!)
i hate g chat!!! lol...msn is so much better :P btw ive changed my url to www.and-all-that-jazz1.blogspot.com =)
@abhi: "i've had some of the most enjoyable times of my life while chatting!" -> Should not make such statements in public, however true they may be !!!!
@Ruchi: I read it as glisten too
@michelle: i think gtalk is by far the simplest and most uncomplicated messenger ever! i like it the best!
@golu: obvio! it was YOUR stat msg afterall :P
Its not the messengers....its the people we get addicted to.
change the medium of conversation with those few people you're addicted to, and you need gtalk no more.
@Golu
What exactly do you mean whn you tell abhi
"Should not make such statements in public, however true they may be !!!!"
?
@Golu : yeah, what do you mean, huhh?
@gauri : you are correct, but even in that case, the addiction still remains na? wats the point then?
btw, it might be a good addiction in some cases! ;-)
@don't guess &abhi: hahhahahha
@golu: yeshhh .. answer golu bhaiyya answer!! aapko is prashn ka uttar dena hi hoga!! ;) :P
@gau: damn ya .. i just can't let go of the ppl m addicted to .. or in some cases the ones who are addicted to me! :( and i guess gtalk is cheaper :D cell balance is, as it is, forever low :(
@abhi: addictions are NEVER good .. NEVER!!
@rt : very true, its tough (and even seems pointless) to let go of people we are addicted to (or who are addicted to us, as the case might be).. and due to cost constraints, gtalk still fares better than using cellhpone..
an addict almost always justifies/likes his addiction.. cant do much abt that.. :|
dis page has adware!!
a pop up pops out when i click on the comments section! :P
ooh and true signs of being a IM addict:
wen u say LOL instead of laughing out loud...
:P
and i agree abhijeet... even i agree dat chatting online is good fun.. ;)
specially while giving those "tips" to u.. :P :P
I once said "lol" instead of laughing. I quit chatting for a whole year after that. I think it was the 11th standard.
@Golu: It's a shame no one seems to have understood your comment. The humor seems to have gone unnoticed.
@gay3: hehhe .. what "tips"?? i am curious! ;)
@bhi: hmmm .. quite an addict u were! i havnt reached that stage yet .. so i guess i maybe in d clear!
and yes the humour certainly went unnoticed!
@bhisham : thats happens to me once in a while but I just ignore the symptoms..
@gayatri : what tips???? :O main ekdum seedha-saadha bachha. ye tedhe-medhe chakkaron mein nahi padta!!
@rt : apni curiosity ke ghodon ko lagaam dein.. kripya public mein meri waat na lagayein. :D
@abhijit
YAH RIGHT... :P :P..
@rt
curiosity KILLS you i know.. :P
@bhisham
mmmm... the humor didnt really go unnoticed...coming from golu(after the 'blowing cars' comment) i quite expected this!!.. :D :D

this was a classic case of chor ki dadhi mein tinka!
@abhi: main TERI watt naa lagaoo?? yeh kaise ho sakta hai?? :O ;) :P
@gay3: ever tried sayin lmao instead of lol?? and i think i've heard u say rofl but surprisingly i dint raise a brow :O
and YES .. curiousity kills me and i must've already died a 1000 times ;D
and u were really givin abhijit tips on how to study for his midsems?? :O
@rt and 'gay3' : gayatri ji is just acting innocent. i wud NEVER ask her for tips about dumb midsems!!! and miss rt, am sure u cud guess what tips 'might' have been asked about about which gayatri is aarop-fying me..
@rt : feel free to waat lagaofy me.. aajkal sab yahi kar rahe hain. :(
(thats supposed to evoke a response like.. awwww.. poor abhi!)
(and if the reader is dtunk as well,.. awwwwwwww.. poor abhiii! lets find him a girlfriend! )
:D
p.s. surprisingly, i've heard gayatri saying lmao apart from once-every-few-seconds-lol.
@tandon
for some1 who has known me for the past 4 GODDAMN years(literally) its blasphemy to ask such a question!!
@abhijeet
chck ur facebook accnt... :P :P
I try to stay away from addictive online behavior... I used to be on AIM 24/7 (even on my cellphone)... but if it feels right, do it!
hi.. first time here.. heheh Im into gtalk.. heheh.. i think i read it as g listen too.. thot the person made a spellin error hehhe
@abhi: "awww" ke bachhe!! :x :P tu mil mujhe online .. batati hoon tujhe!! :P
@gay3: awww sowwie! ;) :P
@dave: wow! i am definitely NOT alone! :D and yeshh .. follow the heart i will! ;D
@ego: a v.warm welcome :)
aaahh .. so the test doesn't entirely fail, eh?! ;D
What humour ? I am a sober and mature individual :P I meant ki the moment you say that the best times of your life have been chatting, 99% of the world would agree that your life has indeed been sad. On the other hand, I have had some of the best conversations online, but I would not confess to them being the best moments of my life (or did I just do so ? )
Well thankfully I haven't yet been introduced to gchat. I don't think I can keep up anymore. Theres gchat, msn, yahoo and on the other hand theres hi5 and facebook. Just too much if you ask me.
I can however relate to your frustration, I find the internet as a whole is addictive, not just parts of it.
@day-dreamer: yups .. Internet, on the whole, is ADDICTIVE!! I can't do without it anymore!! :(
Ha! beat you people in that aspect. My attempts to cut off from the online world seem to be pretty successful so far.
In 3 months I can convincingly say "I gave up"
:O 3 months?!! wow! and u're back again, aren't u? ;) :P
omg!!!
bhauwvra darling i actually read that as G - listen!
lol..
Hi. My name is Arnold and I'm addicted to gTalk.
